Control your DSLR with Android

As we all know that Android devices are everywhere these days, be it mobiles, smartphones, tablets and netbooks.Developers are trying to make apps that can help you to control different devices with your smartphone. An app has been developed which can help you control your Canon DSLR with your own Android Smartphone.

This Android application gives you full control of your Canon DSLR(models released before Q3 2008 not fully supported) from your smartphone or tablet through USB( USB-on-the-go needed). USB on-the-go cable eliminates any usage of Computer in between your smartphone and Canon DSLR, all you need is Host USB cable.

As the app is released as beta and is currently in beta , so it is a work in progress and therefore there might be some features missing although there are tons of features and more are being included. The Devices supported as of now are listed here.  Make sure you have USB host cable before trying this app because a normal USB cable won’t do any good.

Features include but are not limited to:

  • Live View
  • Auto Focus (tap Live View)
  • Manual focus adjustments in Auto Focus mode
  • Histogram
  • Zoom control
  • Grid display
  • Bulb capture
  • Continuous capture
  • Extensive modification of settings
  • Shutter speed
  • Aperture
  • Exposure Compensation and Bracket
  • Flash Compensation
  • ISO speed
  • Auto-Focus Mode
  • Focus and Zoom area (tap-and-hold Live View)
  • Picture Style
  • Drive Mode
  • White Balance
  • Color Temperature
  • Auto-Lighting Optimizer
  • Metering Mode
Here’s the Video of the App in working condition on an Android Smartphone.
